Snacks for school?

Hello O'clever ones

DS takes a snack to school for first break, his current favourites are little bags of dried pineapple (OK with me cos at least it's fruit!) and (unfortunatly) one of his school buddies gave him a packet of Mcvities Go Ahead apple & sultana slices. You get 3 biscuits in a little plastic bag and they're sold in packs of 5 also wrapped in plastic! But he loves them and despite my best efforts to persuade him on to other things, he's having none of it!!

So, I'm looking for a recipe that could sort of ish recreate said slices......but I have no idea how to!

Anyone have a recipe for anything Apple & sultana that could be taken as a snack to school?!

I did think flapjack but I suspect he may moan at the amount of chewing involved, but I might try that first, but any recipes of ideas would be appreciated!!

I think I would go down the flapjack way, as you can always add different fruit or things.

A lot of it is that it has to be a single "robust" item that looks cool... But if it tastes great you might get away from the advertised, packaged stuff!

Have you thought of a small muffin with apple, or sweet scone with apple and sultana?

CG is ALWAYS happy to take in any fruit *I* have dried...and if she has been involved, even better....

would it be worth getting DS involved in the baking, Akuma?

Apple and sultana loaf:
250g self raising flour
150g sugar
125g margarine
100g Sultanas
2 large apples coarsely grated or finely chopped
2 large eggs
1 tsp cinnamon

Rub together the flour, butter and sugar.
Mix in the cinnamon, sultanas apple and egg.
Bake at 160C for 45 mins or until knife comes out dry

Or just add a bit of partially dehydrated apple to a sultana cookie recipe - if you Google you will get dozens - you could use raw apple but it would probably alter the texture rather a lot whereas partially dehydrated will no make it radically moister than usual.

Another thing you could try in the great McVities forgery is just straight Victoria sponge mixture (4oz butter, 4oz sugar 4oz SR flour and two eggs - or half this amount) either as cupcakes or baked in a tin so you can cut it into slices. I discovered a few years ago that you can put almost any fruit into this mixture and it works, so cubed apple (eating or cooking) and sultanas plus mixed spice or cinnamon might do the trick. (Tho I really like the sound of Billy's recipe...)
