Alas the advert block that we see on the log-in page is the only one that I have been unable to remove - that is one that I will have to pay the hosting company to ditch and I have better things to spend $25 on at the moment...

I wonder what Google thinks you have been looking at Laughing When I logged out to check the ads, I was offered a coupon book for Halifax NS, Aluminum landscape edging and a deal on a new greenhouse...

I bought the Kirstie book for my sister for her birthday and from the brief look that I had it's actually much better than I thought it would be...

She occupies a bind spot for me, I am fond of her, even though I despise her politics and to be honest I am tired of being angry with people.

I am sure you don't mean you want her to tie you up.... Shocked

I don't hate her, I just find her irritating...but yes, life is too shore to dislike folk, I am trying harder to think better of people.

Well death is but a journey to a far distant shore, so they say...

Suggestive Advertising Empty Re: Suggestive Advertising

Post by Guest 20th November 2010, 9:40 am

Going back to the original point there may be something you all wish to consider. Since this report from Wood Troll I have been reading these adverts.

It seemed to be responding to the last page you had on the screen. So when I went onto the Heritage Craft Site and then went onto this forum's homepage I got a lot of craft related ads. OK could be from the web address.

More worrying when I initiated Amazon uk (not via the forum) by mistake it then gave me ads based on the content of that page ie based on the recommendations Amazon put on my initial page. OK so some bot is monitoring the content of page downloaded.

Even more worrying I wanted to save a page in Explorer as a favourite. Looking in the list of folders on our computer I saw one on Microsoft and I just opened up the folder to see what was in the folder. I did not access the web page at all. There was no internet activity that I had actioned. When I then went to the forum it was offering assorted Microsoft related options! This is suggesting that your computer is in fact giving the info to Google.

As mentioned before I use Explorer not Chrome.

And the page we were reading before the observation that caused Wood Troll's initial posting was the story of the the release of Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma. So it seems the google snoop has got a sick mind!
