Greetings from Illinois
Greetings All! Just stubled on this site while looking for craft ideas. Looks like I've found the right place! Add to that recycling, gardening, heritage, etc. etc. looks as though I'll be busy for some time. Been gardening a while, began canning and preserving last year, recycle and re-purpose whenever possible, and, in general, try to be a good steward to my allotment of the earth. I'm really getting an interest in heritage crafts, restorations and the lot lately.
Looking forward to learning a lot. And giving something back too!

Mr_S will do just fine. There's a bit of a story behind the name...
Pickles sounds lovely, long as everything hasn't gone all mushy.
Oh, by the way, I'm what's known as a Multi-Craft Skilled Tradesman. So, to the community at large, if you've got questions of the Trades type, give me a message. Either I can get some info, or point you in the right direction.

Mushy??? Good grief, it's past mushy and moved to some sort of life form, I think....
Re: Greetings from Illinois
OK, here goes....
There's a movie called "The Murder of a Chinese Bookie".
It's terrible. Don't rent it. I made that mistake (probably about '92 or '93), despite the advise against it by the video store clerk. Who was a freind of mine. And who had seen it.
Anyway, the only decent bit in the movie was this positively tragic piano player who went by the stage name Mr. Sophisticated. Despite the awful movie, I sort of latched onto the name.
Now, the particular spelling of the name has to do with vehicle license plates. In Illinois, they can only be so many letters/numbers long, so the only way to spell Sophisticated on a license plate is SFSTK8D. I never got it on my car. Or any personal plates for that matter. I'm such a security nut, I don't even put personal information on my vehicle, lol.
So, when I started putting my name on the INTARWEBBS, I started going by mr_sfstk8d. I've been using it for so long, I'll reply to Mr. S just as readily as my given name, lol.
There, that's the story. I didn't say it was a particularly entertaining story, just long.

Re: Greetings from Illinois
Try reading this aloud:
I M Sofa King Wee Todd Did.
When I was in training for the Army, we had an inflatable seat (cheap!) that we'd blow up on weekends in our barracks. Everybody needs extra seats when the drinks start coming. Anyway, we had added a sign to it, and named it the Sofa King. One Saturday night, our Drill Sergeant came in and asked us "Who's Sofa King??"
"You Are!!" we all replied. We all laughed. And then we got the hell smoked out of us up and down the hallway. C'est la vie! (Terrible spelling, I know. Too lazy to google it.)
