Finished baby blanket!
It's only taken until LMC's six month half birthday, but I've finally finished the blanket I was knitting for her!
More pictures on my blog here
A few ends to weave in still, but relieved it's finished!

It's gorgeous. Something you can be proud of. Looks as though it'll hold up for ages too. Didn't look as though it was done in "Baby" weight yarn. What is it?

Mr S - Rowan cashsoft DK. Not what the original pattern called for, but similar whilst being slightly harder wearing if you know what I mean.
Billy - No C2 for a little while I hope. Enjoying wine on a Saturday night too much for that!
CW - with the amount of snow we've had here today it's definitely required. Must just stop chatting on here and finish weaving in the final ends.
Thanks for the kind words folks.

Just looked up the Rowan Cashsoft yarns. Looks wonderful. Must find a supplier in the US and have Mrs. (or myself, only much slower ) work up something ourselves.

Re: Finished baby blanket!
Say, I'd forgot to ask, did you do any blocking for the finished product? My wife tried her hand at blocking for the first time on a scarf she'd made yesterday. All wool, machine washable stuff. She was trying steam blocking, but got way too much heat, I think, and has possibly "killed" the loft of the fabric. On top of that, the color in the ironing board cover she had it laid upon has bled into the wool!! It may be a loss, we'll see. Trying Wool Wash today. Was supposed to be a gift. Wish her luck!

Re: Finished baby blanket!
Have to admit to having not blocked it. I'm awful at properly finishing off any knitting as I much prefer to just use it straight away. Also I figured that with a blanket like this size isn't that important if you know what I mean.
I am desperately on the look out for someone locally who can show me how to block properly, and how to make things up too as some of my seams on knitted items can be a bit dodgy.

Re: Finished baby blanket!
I'm a bit lazy on finishing knitted things - for a large item I might press it under a damp tea towel with the iron on medium. Otherwise I just put it away in the drawer! Mr S - I really hope your wife can do something to save the scarf she's knitted. All that time.....
