Dinner Party Disaster Stories?

Post by GB on 4th May 2011, 5:39 pm

My first ever dinner party has had to be canceled Sad but it got me remembering a story my friend Gladys told me about her first ever dinner party.

Her husband was grilling chicken on the grill they had made with an old oil drum and when he went to turn them over for the very last turn the top of the grill fell on them, leaving rust marks on the meat.

So she put the chicken on her guests plates rust side down and told them not to eat the bottom side of the chicken Shocked Laughing

She said they all very politely ate a bit of meat Laughing

So go on, what dinner party stories do you have?

................................................................................................................................
Laugh and the world laughs with you, laugh hysterically, for no apparent reason, and they'll leave you alone!

The Gods answer all our prayers. Unfortunately, sometimes, the answer is no!

"When in doubt, choose to live!"

The time a guest decided to "share" with us that her best friend's husband was having an affair with another married (male) friend. She did this despite the fact that all of the couples involved were at my dinner table.

Although they were not close friends of mine, I didn't give another dinner party for many many years after that one....not my fault of course but the fall out from it was appalling. To this day I have no idea why she did it... Shocked Evil or Very Mad

Well, this isn't dinner party, but I think it qualifies as entertaining. Many years ago - another man, another life - we had a chap round to do some outside painting for us. I offered him a cup of tea and he accepted. I went to get the milk from the fridge, and then realized to my horror, that I'd just poured the last of it in the cat's bowl (which I had just scrubbed and dried). Anyway, just as I was pouring the cat's bowl milk into his cup, he walked past the window . . . I gave it to him anyway, hoping he hadn't noticed, but I bet he poured it away when my back was turned . . .

My guess is jealousy, lol.

Oh, and GB, honestly, I don't know what the fuss was about. Cats are fastidiously clean (well, tidying themselves after a trip to the litter pan notwithstanding). And as long as there aren't any bits of Meow Mix chow floating, it wouldn't bother me terribly. Especially if I'd been working hard all day, lol. That said, I think my time in the feild in military has made me see quality standards a bit differently, ROFL.

Only marginally related: Do you know who is (U.S. military, anyway) in charge of procurement of local foodstuffs in a theater of operations if pre-arranged supply line provisions are not available?

Veteranary Command.
