Homemade Hobnobs

12oz Butter (or Margarine)
9oz Sugar
3teasp Golden Syrup
9teasp Boiling Water
few drops vanilla essence
12oz Self Raising Flour
6 oz Porridge Oats

Mix all ingredients together.
If you think mixture is too sticky add a bit of extra flour.

Place large walnut size dollops on a baking sheet allow for spreading. It makes about 36.
Bake 10-15mins 180c 350f until golden brown.
While hot place on wire rack will crisp up when cold.

I have a similar recipe ("Nig Nogs") from a Yorkshire friend which I was making this week. Ingredients the same, but quantities/balance different. Scrummy all the same.
