Holding Chickens
My girls sort of crouch and when they do this they let me stroke them.......what would their reaction be if I picked them up?
Any thoughts?

Re: Holding Chickens
Either they would sit docilely in your arms or they would go crazy apesh*t. If the latter just hold them a bit more firmly and stroke them and they will calm down and be docile.
If they peck or claw you, they are wrong uns, but clipping their necks should cure such behaviour.

Re: Holding Chickens
They think you are a cockerel, D, when they crouch it is in response to a cockerel wanting them and they think he is going to mount them...
Pick them up holding their wings down on top of their bodies with one hand and the other hand under their abdomen. between their legs.
They are happy and they like you so be firm and enjoy holding them..!
I saved one of mine from dying of hypothermia tonight...

Re: Holding Chickens
Once you've got them in two hands, you can easily tuck them under one arm, thus freeing the other arm up for all manner of things !
