Pea "Terrain" Empty Pea "Terrain"

Post by Chilli-head 28th July 2016, 11:25 am

I spotted this pea variety in a garden centre, I'm not normally a great fan of T&M, but these were at a trial price of 99p. They have been a really good performer, lots of pods of petit pois style peas, with a really good fill. One of the few varieties that actually look as good as the picture on the packet ! Definitely recommended.

They sound good CH. I tend to grow sugarsnap peas, as I feel they give the best return for ground space and time and effort. Takes fewer to make a meal than either the flat podded mange tout, or peas that are shelled first before eating.

Did wonder at the thread title. I think of a 'terrain' as the area on which petanque is played. Just imagining playing a table-top version with peas Laughing

I've just looked up sugarsnap peas, I always thought they were like mangetout. I've never done brilliantly with peas and although mange tout do well there are either not enough or they are all going to seed so I might have a go at sugarsnap peas next year.
