I've just planted some tomato seeds, taking advantage of the mild weather - but I'm prepared for a 'beast from the East' to wreck my plans. Our daughter's birthday is next weekend: it was snowing when she was born in 1983, and over the years it has tended to snow round about this time. But no snow at all on the forecast for the next fortnight...
