In the tool bar above the reply box, slightly to the right of the centre you will see an icon which looks like a photo with a floppy disc in front of it, and one which just looks like a photo of a wee tree (if you peer very closely)
The former is to upload a picture from you computer, the latter to insert a pic from the internet.
If you click on the first one, it will open a dialogue box enabling you to browse your computer for the image you want - follow the instructions and you will upload your file.
If you click on the second one, you a small box with a link symbol. Paste the URL of the image you want to link to in there and click ok. Or alternatively, just click okay and you will get this: [img][/img] appearing in the text on your screen. Paste the URL between the two sets of parentheses and the image you wish to link to will appear in the message.
The one that looks like a strip of film does the same thing with links to videos and will embed the video into your message. Like this:

No - I decided that having to authorise each upload was way too much work, so going to trust that our lovely members will be good and not upload rudies

I cant either!! I was concerned i would broadcast any picture from anywhere out too.
I can open the boxes, get the pictures in to the section ready to bring in to my post but cant get them from there in top my post, is that your problem too Mrs Nes?

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
eep another problem
right o - it seems you can upload photos directly from your pc into the galleries, but need to link to a photo from an external source like Flickr if you want to add it into a post.
I shall investigate.

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
I was so impressed by the fact that you've got a BBcode for embedding YouTube videos that I had to find out how it was done and add it to the Classic Bike Forum that I'm Admin on.
We've had a Rock Basement for ages, but we've been stuck with just posting links, life is betterer, and easier, now.
T'only thing is, I can only figure out how to do it with either the full embedding code or the clip ID#, not the url.
Howzit Dun ?

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
Nope, just click on the icon sixth from left above the reply text box which shows a floppy disc in front of a polaroid, if it is a picture you have on your computer, and follow instructions from there. Then copy the URL it gives you once your pic is uploaded and click on the next icon (of just a polaroid) and paste the URL in the box provided and bingo bango bongo your pic will appear.
Re: Putting a picture in a post?
Ah this calls for a fair amount of rude words & concentration then. Thanks Billy

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
Help!! I have followed all the instructions but am still going round in circles. I click on the floppy disc/polaroid icon, I browse through the photos on my computer and select one. I click on 'host', then am given three options: thumbnail, image and image url. I click 'copy' next to 'image url'....nothingh happens, so i click 'download', and we're back to the beginning of the process again. Any ideas? I have also tried to upload pictures to my personal gallery, but have been told they are too large and I can't upload any more (even though I haven't got any on my gallery). Any ideas?

I'm getting this too, or more precisely, the error message is:
"The size of all the pictures is higher than the allowed limit. You cannot send more"
Is that the message you saw too, Dandelion? That isn't necessarily referring to your pictures or personal gallery space. In my case since haven't gotten as far as specifying the picture I want uploaded the system can't know what the size is.
Just realized that we have a suitabley compressed (480x360) picture of me and Penny with Nokade (pack member) standing on the porch of Upper Goose Pond Cabin taken by a hiker and sent to us.

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
That's absolutely right, Mike - I haven't specified a photo, but it's giving the message that the size is higher than the allowed limit. I'm glad it's not just me.....

Re: Putting a picture in a post?
Glad to reassure you, Dandelion, and I was pretty sure that the message you had seen was the one I reported seeing also.
Just saving Badger some trouble. Not obvious to most end users but it really helps to know the exact text of any error message and not some approximate paraphrase. If nothing else, can search for that text string in the maintainer's manual where it lists error messages.
