Hmmm, I've just seen out there somewhere in the big www a supposed list of the veg seeds that will be given away this year, although I didn't see it on the BBC site:

Blue Lake French bean, Black Beauty courgette, Royal Chantenay Red carrot, Mixed Leaf salad, Sweet Genovese basil...

Due to start March 1st...

I can recommend the bean and carrots, I grew them last year. Nice to be ahead of the trend

I grew Blue Lake beans as well last year. They did really REALLY well. I've still got some in the freezer and have seeds saved ready to plant this year.

Interesting...

I thought I'd read somewhere that they weren't going to do this again this year. But maybe I was wrong...

The BBC will be launching their new Dig in Campaign for 2010 on the 1st of March
(Seed addicts add this to you diaries)

this year the they will be giving away

Blue Lake French bean
A super-productive climbing bean that will give a heavy crop of long tender green pods with just a bit of care.

Black Beauty courgette
Heavy cropping and quick to grow, just a couple of plants will keep you in courgettes all summer long.

Royal Chantenay Red carrot
Short and sweet, these conical carrots are ready in just a few months and are perfect for growing in containers.

Mixed Leaf salad
A tangy, tasty mix of salad leaves made up of crunchy lettuce, delicate chard, tender spinach and spicy mizuna.

Sweet Genovese basil
A versatile herb with a lovely fragrance, this plant is perfect for growing on a warm windowsill - and for making pesto.

I`m sure that if any one happened to pick up spare packages of seeds, then sticking them in the post to a grateful webmaster would be appreciated

I'll see what I can do Badger - no promises yet as I seem to recall it took a fair bit of time to get one set out of them last year!

oh, I was kidding. I recover and store most of my own seed and buy the rest from a young chap who runs a heritage seed business up the road.
