Hello, I am Polgara Empty Hello, I am Polgara

Post by polgara 16th March 2010, 8:02 pm

I usually answer to Pol though. I am retired, been married for over 40 years, have 3 sons & 3 Grandchildren. We live on the Isle of Wight.

We are too old & have too many health problems to live the dream life, but we are trying to be greener in what we do & how we do it, & I love reading about those members who have managed to have the dream come true.
Like many people we watched INEBG & I began to wonder what we could do to improve our way of life. Started with the easy things but soon became more interested.

We try & grow our veggies, but only have a small garden so are a bit limited, but we do well. Now I have retired we do shop less in the supermarkets & try & use local shops & farmers markets.

I have found that by cooking from scratch it is possible to have a healthy & tasty diet.
I enjoy making jams etc. Funnily enough it can also be cheaper.

I love arts & crafts but though I try I am not always very good. I knit, sew & make things for my 2 Dolls Houses, I am also teaching myself to paint & draw, again not very well but I enjoy it.

Main pastime is playing the flute, I belong to an adult concert band & help with a childrens marching band. Also I spend a lot of time reading.

Over the years I have been very successful with my family history & think I have almost gone as far as I can. It has given me a great interest in history as it concerned & effected my family.

From belonging to several forums over the last few years, I have learnt so much & people are friendly & helpful. I love this forum as it is very diverse & though small at the moment is growing daily with some wonderful people.

Think I also should mention that Sparhawk is my eldest son, as sometimes people get a bit confused about odd comments that are made.
