Re: stirrup hoes/push pull types
Are you still pondering this one Gunners ? I'd stick with my recommendation of the Wolf push/pull hoe, but I haven't tried the oscillating type to compare - does anyone else use one ?

Re: stirrup hoes/push pull types
Hmm. I guess the Wolf ones are just pressed steel - I have taken a half round file to mine on occasion, and I suppose that it can be filed indicates it can't be too hard a grade of steel.
As it happens, I have a professional interest in hoe blades ... we make control systems for weeding machines. They all become blunt and wear away eventually - some of our customers can wear many sets out in a single season. And these are made from Hardox wear resisting steel.

Re: stirrup hoes/push pull types
Well, I have never get quite that excited about a garden equipment purchase, but ... I hope you get along with it Gunners. I have a telescopic handle on mine, the biggest advantage of which is that the journey by wheelbarrow down the alleyways from my house to the lotty is a bit less like some rustic version of jousting !
I found out an old thread on hoes, and gave it a bump up the list for you
