Just saying HI :)
Hi all, thought I'd say hello after seeing this forum via FB.
I live in Aberdeenshire with my husband and 3 kids (and cat, 2 dogs, 4 horses and 6 ex-bat hens).
We do our best to live the simple life, grow lots of our food, mend and buy second hand. We cycle as much as we can and for most of the year we are car free.
We're vegan, but don't hold it against us
I am appossed to modern farming rather than meat eating per say and think if you want to hunt to eat (rather than trophy ) then fair play, its a natural way.
I to blog and love to debate so please feel free to come along and say hi :face:
Will have a shifty through the topics soon so see you soon !

Welcome.
We have a vegan member in our family too, although the rest of us are not. But we do think carefully about what we eat - I'd better not get started here, it's not the place!
Look forward to seeing you around the forum.

Hello nice lady
What type of horsies do you have and what do you use them for? (No I don't intend any troll like cooking suggestions ) We are hoping that friends are going to breed us a heavy horse for working this year.

Re: Just saying HI :)
@Compostwoman ooh that feels strange! Thanks for looking anyway
@Wood Troll My horsies are poo machines...I put lots of money in one end and poo comes out the other. Luckily said poo is fantastic in the garden so they may almost, maybe, possible pay their own way...sometimes....
What sort of heavy horses you gonna get??
@Jaded green I am the none bitey vegan. *shhh* I even have meat eating friends I only get narky when ppl like to pretend they are nutritionalists and think I'm going through a stage...x

Re: Just saying HI :)
I intend to use the horse primarily for timber extraction so it needs to be a fairly hefty beast. Our friends are looking to cross their percheron mare with a tall dales stallion. I suppose it would be called a daleron.
Do you use yours for transport in any way seeing as you do not have a horseless one.

Sounds sterdy
Sadly they are not my mode of transport, the roads being nasty and fast round here, we cycle a lot but you can bail out of a bike and into a hedge, if a car gets too friendly, harder to do on horseback
Would like to get the littlest pony between shafts if only to help out around the place, but we'll see.
