Can I ask about my wormery here?
I recently bought a "desk top" wormery.. i.e. I can keep it inside.
How do I know if my worms are happy?
How do I know if they are healthy?

Re: Can I ask about my wormery here?
of course you can ask here
Is it a Bubble House one?
Same as other wormeries, really, not too much food, the right sort of food, not too hot, not too cold, not too sunny and make sure it is kept moist but not wet.
If the worms die, you are doing things wrong and if they multiply...well you must have got it spot on

I love the fact it's 'desk top'. Worms is one of the very few things I don't have on my desktop!!

Dandelion, I find it great! it is really compact and am hoping for mini sunflowers to grow on top.
Yes, CW... it is a bubblehouse wormery. Woody is a fab lady!
the flat is always quite warm, but we have put it in a place that gets equal amounts of shadow and light, so hopefully they are happy.

Re: Can I ask about my wormery here?
Can anybody clear up a ponderable, most books say that worm tea is good as a plant food, but an article in "Grow It" last month said that it is of better use being poured into a compost bin as an ax, ac, accel, to make it do what its got to do fasterer.
I'm quite happy to use it either way as I also have nettle tea...

To me it seems a waste to put it in the compost bin when you could put wee in the bin to accelerate it and then still have the worm juice to put on your garden

Hmm, prozac & amitryptiline wee seems to make for very fast ants & woodlice & things ...

Spar makes a good point about medications in urine. I am lead to believe that they break down in a compost heap, BUT I have no definitive , referenced, proof. Just a question I asked of a medically qualified chemist, once....

I must admit I have been relying on that for sometime , but it isn't half fun watching the little critters running around without a care in the world, you almost get twice as much value from one prescription...
