Internet Bots usually just "reference" your site to increase their knowledge of it, and give the most accurate & up-to-date information about your site.

In addition, when the Google Bot visit's the site, it also is giving us a "Cache" version of our site.

A "bot" is a software robot. Not a physical device but a program.

Not always good or even neutral. The "challenge" in the registration process is there to make it difficult for a "bot" to join the forum and then bombard us with spam postings.
