Post by boobiejuicemama on 30th May 2010, 2:32 pm

It is late again as I am writing this so I have to keep it brief, I am a Slow cooking, home birthing, bread making, baby wearing, coffee drinking, boobie feeding, nappy changing, cubby making, garden growing, swing pushing, homework marking, tear wiping, all loving wife and mother and all round domestic goddess (at least I try to be!)

I am a bit of a gypsy but my home town for the last six years has been in sunny Brisbane Australia. I grew up in the Blue Mountains which was a creative and vibrant community of people and I would love to live there again one day.

I am an artist of sorts (untrained), I have been painting for years and have just recently sold some of my children’s paintings. I love to paint abstract and I especially love the opportunity to paint with kids, because they love to make a mess!

My lovely mother just provided me with my second ever sewing machine and I have spent the last two weeks teaching myself how to make nappies, felt jacket and leg warmers for the kids.

I have made a promise to myself that this year I will only purchase things new if they are an actual "need" not just a "want", having the sewing machine will certainly help in that regard Smile

Anyway I am glad to have found this small forum of people who I can learn from and share my ideas for my homemade life.

Sincerely

B

Sounds good to me Hi BJM. I love stories about the Blue Mountains when they were first being explored, some of my favourites.

In 1986 I spent a month in Oz, 1 week Brisbane, 2 Weeks Sydney, 1 week Freemantle...
Unfortunately never took up the opportunity of a trip to the Blue Mountains...

Ever since '86 I have vowed to return some day & I know that when I left a part of Aus came with me & I will return it some day, it is the one place that I have been to (out of many) that I can honestly say captured my heart, & there is so much that I want & need to see & do one day...

Look forward to hearing from you too...

Thankyou all for the warm welcome, I am already having a ball!
Sparhawk - you should definitely come back, there is so much to see here, I have been travelling solely within Australia since I was a kid and I still want to see so much. My husband and I took two weeks last year just driving around New South Wales, it was wonderful and next year we are going to do Victoria.

Are there you are BJM...sorry missed your intro. Good to see you here.

I have many cousins in Oz as both my mum's sisters emmigrated with there husbands and children (who have been reproducing and dispersing!) in 1963. At the last moment my mum backed out and stayed in England. A definate point in my past that could have lead to a very very different life!

Well I am in France now...not as hot as Brisbane (I have managed one trip there). I've got cousins further north to you in Gladstone area.

I like your idea of buying only the "needs" - and stay in touch!
