Pillars of the Earth
Not particularly on-topic for the forum, although perhaps with the handcrafting and so on - the book much moreso - but has anyone been watching the televised version of this?
I love the book - I read it on the beach in Bali in a massive stint over the dawning of the millenium actually, and as I had been living out of the UK at that time for a while, it made me powerfully ... not homesick, but aware of the things I loved about England. I spent a good part of my childhood near Salisbury, on whose Cathedral the book is loosely based.
I confess I was a tad sceptical about the TV adaptation, but so far it has been cracking. Tony and Ridley Scott is a good sign.
Also looking forward to the TV adaptations of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Stone. With added Sean Bean.

Re: Pillars of the Earth
Not caught the TV series, no...I tend to find serialisations of books I really love are disapointing to me...
Just a personal view, I tend to imagine my own version of what a book would look like so am often jarred that the TV images are not the same as those in my head, IYKWIM

Re: Pillars of the Earth
I know Salisbury well Billy, as I used to live in Coombe Bissett and work in Salisbury and Britford. I still miss it. There's something about Cathedral cities.
OH and I only saw one episode of this so will have to try and watch it when it's shown again and I'll have to look out for the book as it sounds right up my street.
