Personally I have no problems with "Moderator" We do not have to be like others & can carry on as before, but everyone will know who we are.

Is it based on number of posts and implying a medium level? I also noticed Mike is a "new member". Can it be based on date?

Well, in an unusual event, I must strogly disagree with Billy. At least partly. We simply must have at least one Magic Pixie Dust Dispensor! But then, perhaps that not so useful a job, strictly, as more of mystical happiness droppings.

Can I just say "thank you" , Badger for trying to sort this out so we all feel we have had a say and feel consulted.

One of the many nice things about this Forum is the degree of democracy and consultation about forum stuff.

You spend ages on things like this and I know how much work must be involved. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Right

I am fairly happy that I have the ranking system and icons sorted. Not entirely happy with the rank names - tried to think crafty, but was too tired and a little bored with the whole thing

Mod icons and ranks are sorted and settled...

So, if anyone/everyone could have a think about seven graduating ranks from noob upwards I would be grateful - try to keep in mind the ethos of the forum as well...

What about....

Muladhara - Root chakra
Swadhisthana - Sacral chakra
Manipura - Solar plexus chakra
Anahata - Heart chakra
Vishuddha - Throat chakra
Ajna - Third Eye chakra
Sahasrara - Crown chakra (enlightenment)

The symbols and their colours are rather lovely too.

Not sure if it helps at all but I like being a Junior Apprentice. Makes me feel I am working towards something good Smile

I can't think of all 7 though. Had random thoughts like Guru, sapling, fledgling, potted plant etc

Sorry not much help at all.

I'm also happy to be a junior apprentice. Certainly happier with that than anything that might cause someone to expect me to have real expertise. I don't even mind terribly being made to look like I'm being dragged through a bush backwards - it is often how I look anyway Laughing

My idea would reflect three things
1. The ranking is on quantitiy (not really ability)
2. Amusing and not offensive
3. Its Badger's baby

OK

Lots of thought on this and I am still pretty uncomfortable with graduating hierarchical rank progression.

So, here is the new plan.

Mod names, ranks and Images are fixed, I am happy with them and they are staying as is.

However, I have decided that the Member rank titles and images are going to be random, and not be based on the number of posts made by a member( i.e 0-500 is currently Junior Apprentice), there will be changed, but I really need some inspiration here.

I will put in the time to redesign/recreate the images, but I need sensible suggestions based on the forums ethos of Homemade, craft, voluntary simplicity etc...

At the end of next week I will make up a multi choice poll of the names that I think best represent us and then make up new rank images Based on them.

Side note, as and when certain members show themselves to have very specific interests/obsessions and depending on my time available, I will be designing and awarding personalised rank badges...
