There are some truly inspirational speakers, Alex Langlands presenter from BBC Edwardian Farm, Tanya Harrod, author of The Crafts in Britain in the 20th Century, Mark Henderson Chair of Savile Row Bespoke on marketing crafts as luxury products in the 21st century and lots more. It should be a truly inspirational day.

March 19th. Will you be there?

Crafts conference at the V&A - HCA Spring Conference 2011

Saturday 19 March 2011, 10am to 4.30pm
Sackler Centre, Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, London

This conference at the V&A promises to be the craft event of the year. Organised by craftspeople for craftspeople we have some truly inspirational speakers, from Professor Tanya Harrod, well-known authority on crafts, journalist and author of The Crafts in Britain in the 20th Century, to Mark Henderson and Stewart Linford, who will share their genius for marketing traditional crafts as luxury products in the 21st century. A range of crafts will be presented, from boatbuilding to chairmaking, stained glass to cutlery - as well as the agricultural, domestic and industrial crafts of the BBC's Edwardian Farm's Alex Langlands.

We know craftspeople are more used to doing than listening so presentations will be short and punchy with plenty of time for informal discussions, chatting with the presenters and networking. It promises to be a very exciting day which we hope will feel worth the trip to London and inspire us all in our work. Our forum event last year was oversubscribed so to be sure of your tickets for this great event book early.

We have scheduled a long lunch hour which is a chance for you to bring in a piece of your craft for an Instant Gallery. You can either put a notice about how it was made beside it, or stay with your artefact and explain to others at the Conference how it was made, and the tools and materials you used to make it.

A sandwich (one and a half rounds) lunch, and tea or coffee will be available in the Sackler Centre (please note, lunch needs to be pre-ordered and paid for and tickets for this will be issued).

Programme for the day:

* 10·00am - Arrival, register and coffee/tea available
