Thanks!
Somehow I didn't manage to make them look pretty and all.
Rather disappointed, because they are much more beautiful in real life, and with a foot in them.

Wonderful - I feel inspired to try some, and also JB's hat. The youngest seedling has given me a voucher for Mother's day for an independent wool shop in Hereford which sounds very promising - will investigate when we go 'to town' next and report back.

interchangeables in bamboo and got splinters! I bought my bamboo double
pointed needles from ebay I'm using Knit Pro Symfonie at the moment - both double pointeds and also have a set of interchangeables. Finding them great

Re: Knitting makes friends
Funny you should say that, Sammigirl - I've just got back from a trip to Hereford to try to buy more Knit Pro Symphonie needles in various sizes (I've been saving up!!). The shop had a few, but not what I wanted, and the price has gone up from £5 a pair (which it was in December) to £8.50. Steep! I've been knitting a lot more since I discovered them, because I get arthritis in my thumb joints, and wooden needles are a lot more comfortable to use. Have discovered a shop in Bristol which sells them online a lot cheaper, so I am a happier bunny.
Have you used the clear (I assume acrylic) needles Knit Pro do? I wonder if they're as good from the point of view of flexibility.

Sadly I haven't used acrylic needles from Knit Pro....might have to give them a whirl. I'm finding though that the wood is working well for me tension wise. I'm also using cords with detatchable ends now. Haven't used a straight needles in ages except for a double pointed needle for hats and socks.
Wow better for your arthritis! That's amazing! Really cool to know that too I also find that using interchangeable ends on cords is easier on my wrists as it is a different action. Do you use those or straight needles?

Re: Knitting makes friends
It's the Small Gallery in Capuchin Yard, near the patchwork shop. You'll have to hurry - I heard her telling someone yesterday that she's closing, but a similar shop will be coming afterwards. Not sure what its stock will be though.
Sammigirl - I have been using double pointed needles for making socks, and am trying to replace all my straight needles with wood. I used the all-in-one needles (are they the same as cord needles? Two metal ends, plastic line in between) when I was at college and did some patterned knitting for part of my final show. There was a Norwegian girl on my course, and she showed a couple of us how to knit using them.

Re: Knitting makes friends
I've seen, and own, needles with cord between that are one piece, and ones that the needles are exchangable. The nice bit about the exchangable ones is that you can have different lenght cords and different guage needles, without having to buy the complete assortment of size/length combinations. My wife loves using the corded needles even when not working in the round. She only has to hold onto six inches or so of needle, and the rest of the work falls back onto the cord. Turn as usual and work back off one side to the other. Handy to tuck a project into her purse and not poke someone's eye out carrying it, too, lol.

Re: Knitting makes friends
Wow Dandelion they look awesome!! I recently bought the kids both a pair of hand knitted socks each, and they were super expensive, when I asked about ones for me they wanted nearly $20, so I think it will be a mission of mine to learn to knit socks
