Hello and welcome. I'd love to hear about (and see !) your work; I watched the stonecarving programme of the BBC Mastercrafts series and thought it looked an interesting skill. Mind you, I was interested in most of the traditional crafts, if only I had several lifetimes I'd like to try a few !

Thanks, when I've reached the required number of post I'll put on some pictures of past and current projects. There are lots of other craft I would like to have a go at, a very interesting world is crafts.

Hi Stephen - thank you for saying hello. Which part of the country are you working in?

Oooh, ooh, oooh hello. I'll be most interested to see some pics of your work. I've done a little letter cutting in stone - mainly slate, but some Hopton Wood.
It's something I'd like to do a lot more of, and have quite a lot of offcuts waiting to be worked upon......

You've spoiled yourself with Hopton Wood and slate. We do a lot of lettering in Welsh slate, Ancaster and whitbed portland. I'll put a few picture of letter cutting on as well. Put a pic on of your work?

Re: New to site
Hmm, maybe. Lettering is ok (ought to be, as an ex-professional calligrapher) but the cutting is a bit rank to be honest. Don't get enough practice. It's funny cos most of the people I've talked to reckon the cutting is the easy bit and the lettering is difficult. Do you know Tom Perkins? I learnt with him (just a short course at his home).stephen Critchley wrote: Put a pic on of your work?
