Is there anyone with commercial premises that would consider a wood burner?
As the title says really.........i've always wondered whether to market things towards small business.
I wondered this ever since moving accountants a few years ago as they are situated on a very prestige business park and are very focussed on reducing carbon emissions. They don't print anything unless absolutely essential, it all comes via PDF and they won't install air conditioning due to the energy usage. I always wondered if businesses like them and similar would consider heating their offices with a woodburner.

Re: Is there anyone with commercial premises that would consider a wood burner?
Hello Farenheit!
I would love to......our house has always been wood and I have access to loads of free wood.....from home and from all the old pallets etc on our business park!
I also have the workshop stove......
BUT the big problem I have is that firstly I need a registered engineer to install it and secondly to get the flue long enough to get it through the roof I need about 40ft of single and double skin flue pipe.....
The costs for that are soooooo expensive that a small business like mine cannot afford it!
Now if you wanted to do a deal with me and use me as publicity for your business I'd be delighted!
My entire business to the core is environmentally sound....not just a greenwash on the outside, which is why we won the overall award at the Devon Environmental busuness awards in November so to do this would be fantastic, and use up the scrap wood sitting all over the place!
At the moment we either use a small gas space heater (which is expensive and totally ineffective) or freeze.....we worked for 5 hours today in temp of 6 degrees c indoors :pale: .............our unit is large with an upstairs bit, kitchen where we have turned off the fridge as it was colder out of it!!!, and loo!
I think wood heating is very safe and very efficient AND stops waste in skips going to landfill!

Re: Is there anyone with commercial premises that would consider a wood burner?
Well, if and when I get around to building a permanant structure in the wood to be a classroom come shelter, I would only consider a woodburner. Infact, I am considering making a bender/yurt first and will have a small stove in there....
Anyone want to come on a yurt making course? also a treebog course? I am hoping to run them to get the work done and cover the costs...

Re: Is there anyone with commercial premises that would consider a wood burner?
Farenheit - I understand from my dad that quite a few schools round Nottinghamshire are now installing pellet fed wood burners. Also, when Mr C and I were up in Northumberland last year we found a village tea room / shop that had had some huge grants to do things environmentally and they had two pellet fed ones (as well as solar stuff). In fact I took some photos for a blog post so must actually write one as was a cracking place!
CW - yes and yes! (as long as I can find somewhere for Mr C to sit with C Minor nearby, or we can somehow share the course and childcare - assuming this is all after C Minor arrives) I'm determined that mother-hood won't stop me from doing things I want to do - I just need to work out how to do them!

Re: Is there anyone with commercial premises that would consider a wood burner?
Mrs C ...if you want to get things done with a small, it is actually much easier while they are babies...as they tend to stay put! and sleep and eat and lookup /out in fascination at clouds, a tree, the sky etc....
so you can get on with a lot of work.
Once they get mobile.....and then want to "help"...it gets increasingly difficult...until they DO get to the age where they can either amuse themselves OR be a real help.
I am trying to sort it out for this year...probably in the autumn, but maybe next year....

You never know they may still be small enough to just be amused by their surroundings then! Certainly let me know when you get round to planning it as I'd be very interested in joining in!

You have to learn, if you ever want to get anything done!
It gets easier as they get older, as well....
