Hello I'm The Woolly Shepherd!
Otherwise known a Val! I got to be known as the woolly shepherd as I keep sheep and process wool, folks started calling me woolly and it went from there....its been the name of my business now too for 5 years!
I am a smallholder and have been all my life, I come from a long line of smallholders and have always been downsized....and always had to be frugal due to not a lot of reddies!
I am passionate about wool, sheep, avoiding waste, reprocessing waste, skip diving and hedgelaying!
I am married to a countryman, ecologist and chair of the somerset hedge group Pete and have 5....yes 5 kids aged 28, 27, 24, 17 and....8 .....Also have 22 sheep, 3 pigs, lots of poultry and 2 lovely dogs
Am 101% committed to helping changing peoples lives by making them stop and think for a moment.....just a moment.....

Re: Hello I'm The Woolly Shepherd!
Very welcome Val. If you ever get the time I would love to see your flock. I have a deep and impractical yearning to import Herdwick sheep from the Lakes.

Hiya Val. I was brought up with a love of sheep as my mother taught spinning and weaving. No room in our garden sadly (it's already ruled by the chickens!) but will look forward to hearing about your sheep

Hello there. You know if you ever have any excess sheep that need a home over the summer we could find a home for them in Sussex...

Hello from France. Had to get rid of my Rouge de la ouest flock, too big for me to handle on my own..very sad. Glad to see a simple living person joining us that stops AND thinks!

Hello from the Welsh Marches,
did I miss it, did you say what sort of sheep? I spin, weave, knit, what do you do with their wool?
