How Many Different Uses For... Net Curtain/s...
"Underground, Overground, Wombling Free,
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we.
Making good use of the things that we find,
Things that the everyday folks leave behind.
We're so incredibly, utterly devious
Making the most of everything.
Even bottles and tins.
Pick up the pieces and make them into something new,
Is what we do!"
The lyrics from the first & last verse of "The Wombling Song"
Thinking of Elisabeth Beresford who passed away over the Xmas period, I thought it may be nice to pick an everyday object each month & see how many different ideas for uses we can come up with...
For May "Net Curtain/s"...

I'll make a start with washable/reuseable greenhouse shading...
I pick mine up from charity shops...
Well, I will put it back up again soon so that everything else doesn't go the same way as the spuds...

Was that net curtain the bride was wearing on her head on Friday? Our children used to have net curtain brides' veils in the dressing up box!

Fastened to the inside of a cycling helmet they stop the flying bugs from crawling over your head after they've dropped through the vents.

Cut carefully, makes a good trim for skirt, nightdress, pillows, aprons in fact any clothes that need it.
Also good dolls clothes or dolls house curtains.

Stretched over a wooden frame it makes a good paper making mould and deckle.
Also makes interesting patterns if painted through.

A fine net will make a good lavender bag or
a bigger piece of fine net cut into a largish circle filled with oats & tied to the tap means a nice bath & no lumps of oats on you or in the plug hole.

Cut into circles, with beads or buttons sewn around for weight, to make bowl covers to keep flies off food. I didn't make mine, but they are in constant use.
