Not sure this really needed a thread of its own but couldn't find anywhere appropriate. Found this beauty in the garden a few minutes ago - a cinnabar moth, apparently quite common, but new to me and my garden.

What a great picture. I've seen one a couple of times, they are really striking. I often look closely at moths and although most aren't brightly coloured they have the most beautiful and intricate markings.

I sasw them for the first time up on the Cotswolds, near to where my parents live. Ithink they live on Ragwort if my memory serves me correctly.

Ah, that would be why I've seen them Dandelion. We don't have a ragwort problem but we do have a bit of it on ungrazed bits.

Gorgeous, freebird.
Last year, I think it was, I saw Ragwort heaving with stripy caterpillars on one of my dog walks. Haven't seen one of the moths for ages, though.
