Tomato feeding Empty Tomato feeding

I popped to the garden centre this morning in a bit of free time, with the aim of trying to find some organic tomato fertiliser. Unfortunately all the garden centres around us seem to have given up on organics, and only bottles of unspecified chemical mixtures were on offer.

I have so far used the Chase organics stuff (I think vinasse based, i.e. sugar industry waste), and EcoCharlie (I think it's a wormcast tea !). I'd need to order those and pay delivery though. I also water with aquarium water when I do a waterchange on the grounds that it is to keep nitrate levels in the tank down that you water change, so may as well put the nitrates to good use.

I know someone mentioned nettle tea for cucmbers - what do you find works ?

I've not tried the comfrey version, which is supposed to be high potash. I use worm tea, but without having it analysed, couldn't say how it compares to proprietary tomato feeds. It certainly works as a general liquid feed, and unlike nettle or comfrey, has no unpleasant smell.

Thought about starting a wormery, CH?

I always use worm tea on my tomato seedlings, until I plant them out. I've not really ever got organised with making my own feed though I've got plenty of comfrey & nettles. My tomatoes usually get general purpose feed which, of course, isn't organic. I have been using liquid seaweed some of the time this year too but I got it mainly for my peppers which are languishing a bit.
