Newbie here
Hi
My name is Debbie I am a happily (well mostly) married mum of 3 children/young adults Megan born 1991 with teenagerselfishitis Rowan born 1993 with aspergers and Jalan born 2005 with Cystic Fibrosis
We live just outside of Toowoomba QLD Australia on a acre
We attempt to grow our own veges over summer and had planned on a winter crop as well but life keeps getting in the way of this
We have a stunted orange tree that produced 7 oranges this year , a lemon tree 6 lemons this year , mandarin tree which has i think 2 mandarines , 2 peach trees ,1 nectarine and a apricot tree which actually produced some fruit but the birds ate it before we could and some had grubs in so they were welcome to them and a cherry guava tree (age 4 years) that keeps getting knocked back to dead wood by frost but fights back each year Hopefully we have now protected it well enough this year to keep growing and become fully frost resistant and actually produce some fruit
I love home/hand made stuff and am trying to work out how to live on less and actually really move forward lol
I get fantastic ideas but they often do not see fruition so am now trying to change this and finish what i start
We live a very simple life and have champagne tastes on a soft drink budget
We live day to day due to our 5 yr old (born 2005) daughter as we do not know what the next day brings
We try not to look to far into the future as it is too hard to cope with
Luv Deb

Re: Newbie here
Hey there, welcome.
We have a few Aussie members here, though I haven't seen them online recently - not that I am likely too as I live in Canada and tend to be going to bed when you guys are getting up.
anyway, welcome.
Feel free to jump right in wherever you like, we're a friendly bunch

And welcome from me
My DD aged 10 has various "behavioural" issues - we are waiting on a diagnosis but suspect ADHD or some such...so I understand where you are....
This is a lovely place so have a look around and post any questions you want !

Welcome nice to meet you and your family.
I would love to have citrus trees - whatever they produced!

Re: Newbie here
Hi there Debbie and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have your hands rather full with your kids (I only have a one year old and find just her a handful!)
I love you saying:
"champagne tastes on a soft drink budget "
Looking forward to hearing more about what you get up to. Make sure you pop into the tea room for a cuppa at some point.

Hello from me too. I have a (4th?) cousin Ian, who lives just outside Toowoomba! I envy you your citrus trees too! Gooseberries aren't quite as exotic somehow . . .
"Champagne tastes on a soft-drink budget" - I know this as "Champagne tastes on a beer income"! Obviously an expression that is much-travelled.
I hope you will enjoy the forum - drop into the Breakroom sometimes - we all like to natter over there.
