A new use for polystyrene Empty A new use for polystyrene

Have just put in a small pond (abt. 55gal) and it was heating up so much that even the water lilly was cooking A new use for polystyrene Icon_eek Have now put in four big bits of polystyrene from the last something or other that came packaged with it.

The pond looks a sight but now the plants will have a chance to grow enough to shade the water without cooking first A new use for polystyrene Icon_cool

And the fish are thrilled to be cool enough to get off the bottom A new use for polystyrene Icon_lol

I have to admit that I hate polystyrene as a material, so it's good to know that it has its uses. GB - you are so resourceful!!

Well isn't that a coincidence, in the book I'm ploughing through at the moment
"The End Of Nature" by Bill McKibben, one of the suggestions apparently put forward by some scientist or other to solve global warming was to float polystyrene chips on the oceans to reflect the suns rays... A new use for polystyrene 43030

But on a small scale in a pond until the lillies get established 'tis a good idea, although I have seen it suggested to use cork tiles, which is fine if they aren't treated... A new use for polystyrene Icon_cool
