And here I thought that was a protest for Kyoto being hopeless.

Look, it's not because capitalists that the environmentally better off parts of the world aren't going to share with the worse off. By which I mean capitalists now doing it for selfish reasons but trust me, the people of socialist Canada (should you manage to get that) wouldn't be willing to give up what they have so that the worse off places like India could have more.

It's going to get very nasty as the endgame approaches. We aren't going to be able to reduce emissions overall because the poorer areas will burn everything/anything before they die off.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but it's really far too little too late. Life at the consumption standard we have come to expect and that the poorer areas aspire to would require a human population under a billion.

It depresses me terribly, but I have to agree. We have people debating whether and how the planet can support a population of 9bn by 2050, when it is apparent that the planet is not supporting 6bn now without us consuming the reserves of the past (fossil fuels) and simultaneously borrowing from the future (nuclear).
