Sewage power !
Oxfordshire town sees human waste used to heat homes. Full story here. Great idea - but why has it taken so long ?

No its good that at last the "cylces" of human production are being closed a bit more instead of always looking for the Earth to cough up what we want to make I lives comfortable and convinient!!

Re: Sewage power !
There is nothing new in the idea, Tom did it in the Good Life.
As I understand you need a fair amount of waste to make methanogenesis worthwhile, but I have no idea haw much constitutes "a fair amount".
It is not difficult, and I don't understand why more communities don't get together to do this. Some of them might even be able to sack their water companies.
I have also wondered how big a town you need to make the flow steady enough to run a turbine. :?

Where we used to live in Worcester the locals built a community funded swimming bath where the water was heated by methane from the adjacent sewerage plant ...only trouble the water was so warm it was to enervating to actually swim, properly, for exercise. great for having fun though.
