The last stalk of brussel sprouts
In 2008 we started growing brussel sprouts again after we learned they will last after being taken out of the garden if you cut the stalks at the bottom and put the whole thing in a cool place so we tried it.
We did even better this year and I'm so pleased. In the summer when I have to put up the veggies the kitchen can be almost 100 Farenheit (I apologise but I've never been clear about Centigrade) and it gives me a major headache, literally so any kind of food which ripens in the cool of the fall, or even better, in the early winter -- or even better, winters over is going to be well-loved by moi!!

Re: The last stalk of brussel sprouts
I love sprouts, Penny, Wonderful veg, not hard to grow and last for everrrrr! I've got about 3 stalks left then that'll be it, and I shall miss them! Really can not wait to get them going again. I always think they're great ornamentals too, surrounded by chard or something..
