Re: American Meat Rant!
Intensively reared meat over here doesn't taste of anything really either. Fast finishing and bulking agents and water.
Re: American Meat Rant!
That's just it, Billy. All about maximizing profit, while minimizing expenses. It's the volume of product, not the quality that matters. Bleh! And then they're "enhanced" with up to 35% by weight of fillers, water and preservatives. But the price doesn't go down, surely. It's pretty awefull. As a corrolary, look at the development of the Red Delicious apple. It certainly is red and blemish free, looks beautiful on market bins, but has almost no flavor, and really isn't good for much of any cooking.
