Whacky blue tits
Why are blue tits and great tits trying to break into our house?
They're hanging about in gangs on the fence, and flying, quite gentley at the windows..... I thought they might be attacking themselves for territory, but I've been and had a look and I can't see my reflection so I imagine they can't see theirs? It's all so very gentle, really weird... any ideas?
It's several windows too.... confused from Suffolk...

OK you lot, come on I need help!
Dam things are now banging on every window of the house and waking me up at 4:30Am, and I don't know why... Ol is blaming me for making a wild life garden.. I hung CDS outside the bedroom window to try and scare them away, no joy, in fact I think I just gave them a mirror to attack..
Any ideas?? Anyone??? PLEEEAAAAAAAAASEEEEE!!

Perhaps they have found some midges on the windows are having an early breakfast?
They think it is time you woke up & refill the feeders?
They love you & miss you overnight.

Same goes for you CW.
My blue tits are concentrating on the nest box, they stay well clear of the windows, if they went for any it would be OHs window.

OOOOoooooooooo that's a clever thought, Pol.. I shall go round and clean them there windows, I don't do it very often... miss me? They won't be "missing" me if they keep this up
CW, it's a right pain in the *****!!!! Hope they start behaving soon, I may moan but I'd hate the little darlings to hurt themselves, they're everywhere....
Re: Whacky blue tits
How about trying to hang a dangly thing infront of each window I would say something like a wind chime but I hate them even more than if I had the little fellas tapping on the windows, perhaps a strip of foil...

Re: Whacky blue tits
Bless you, Spar, I've kinda done that, in a makeshiftme way....
I've hung a piece of chicken wire between two ladders... it's done the trick though, they didn't bash this morning... I now just need to work out a burglar deterrent...
I think they are going for bugs, but I cleaned the lounge windows and they're still doing it there... which is fine, I don't mind anywhere else, but I'm the kinda gal who needs silence when I sleep, I'm too easily distractesd otherwise..

A male songbird bird pecking at the window glass is almost always trying to attack that impertainent rival just behind the glass that sings whenever he does. In other words, his reflection.

I though tthat too, Mike, but I have been becoming a bit obssessed with it all.... and watch for ages... they're sitting in a holly tree, which is almost perpendicular to the window, unless they have a a periscope they can't see themselves, so it's starting before they even see the window... they swoop down, then woosh up to the top bit.. then swoooooooooooosh down again, and back to the tree.. I wonder if I have many kamakaze bugs that fly head first into the window and squish themselves there.... hmmm... more watching I think... Gawd, I need to get out more...

They broke through....
I'm now considering curtains on the outside of the house...
