Buzzing LED lamps ?

So, having overcome teething troubles with the first 2 LED lamps not fitting the ES sockets properly, I thought the light seemed a lot better than CFLs, so I thought I'd try some in the hall/stairway.

Bought some "Integral" branded 3.5W LED lamps online, but 2 out of 3 make an irritating buzzing noise when on. Top marks for customer service, the supplier credited me without fuss.

But: "Not worth sending them back, put them in the bin", they said.  Not very energy saving after all, are they ?  2 out of 3 not fit to use.  And wait a minute - these have got the WEEE crossed out wheelie bin logo on them - meaning you shouldn't just put them in the bin !

Has anyone found a brand of energy saving lamp they can get on with ? I so much wanted LED's to be a better alternative to CFLs which don't deliver a satisfactory colour and seem to fail (or go unusably dim) well within their claimed lifetime.  I've resorted to the halogen versions in some places because at least they're bright enough that I can see what I'm doing !

We have LED 'tape' strips as under cupboard lights in the kitchen, and LED spotlight type in our front office room (where I am now). Can't say I have noticed any buzzing, but I do live on an incredibly busy main road, so there is background noise all the time - and I have tinnitus - so maybe I just don't notice it. Is it the lights buzzing or the transformer?

These are the lamps which fit a standard bayonet socket (B22), and so must have integrated power supply electronics. The buzzing sounds like mains hum from a poorly wound inductor in the poser supply to me, not the LED itself which I would expect to be silent.

I suppose I could use the buzzing bulbs for the porch light, which is on a PIR senor and is sited where the buzzing wouldn't matter. Currently it's an old stlyle filament lamp - I've not put a CFL in there because I don't want to stand on the doorstep for a minute or two waiting to be able to see the keyhole !
