Help - oil on jeans

Try making a sandwhich with brown paper or kitchen roll & ironing the trousers, may at least get some of it off.

Rubbing with shampoo may work as it does take natural oils out of hair...

A hotter wash - at least 60 degrees.

Essential oil, such as eucalyptus or even lavender....leave to soak in then wash on a hot wash ( as hot as material can stand...) worked for grease stains on silk!! and also cotton-y things....

Ecover stain remove might be worth a try - I use it on occasion and find it very good for most things - has renmoved cooking oil from clothes for me, using a hot wash. Plsatic bottle, though........as

My book says talc or cornflour, but I suspect you should do that before washing. Hot water comes into it as well.

AJB, I can only tell you, I have used it for base oil stains as well as food grease stains, so it does work...base oils ( hemp) are oil..but essential oils, on the whole are actually not oily.....

it wouldn't hurt to try other methods first and then use essential oil on any remaining stain, if you want...I have even got out "old" stains by this method...

I have always thought essential oils is a misnomer, as one of the properties of EO's is they don't leave an oily residue on paper ( except for the resins, that is...which leave a colour...)

Anyway, any non resinous EO ( so lav, tea tree etc...would work..be aware a citrus EO may aslo take out dye, though.....

To remove oils/greases use a base. A relatively weak base such as baking soda will not destroy jeans.

1) Mix a quantity of baking soda with water to form a soupy paste.
2) Rub in well that area of the jeans that have soaked up oil.
3) Let sit for a while, a day or two perhaps. Should be where the paste will remain moist (say in a closed bucket so that any water that evaporates can't escape and the relative humity inside will reach 100% preventing further evaporation).
4) Wash out paste (can be a hand wash in cold water). Then put through a wash.
5) Oil not all gone? Repeat. Where really bad may take several cycles.

During the wait time a chemical reaction will have taken place between the oil molecules and the baking soda ions resulting in "saponified" molecules one end of which is wettable -- the reason water won't wash away most oil is that the water molecules (very "polar") don't like being near the oil molecules ("non polar") -- the oil isn't "wettable".
