Pears soap
I love Pears soap - the victorian look, the smell and the feel of a new bar, and the fact that I can use it without a reaction. However, when I opened a new box yesterday I discovered that the soap was sealed in a plastic wrapper. The soap also smell wrong - more like decongestant (yuk). I phoned them up, and was told that the wrapper was there to protect the soap as it travelled through many countries, but that it was recycleable. I said that not here it wasn't, so it was a backwards step, and I also didn't like the new smell so I would be considering whether to stop using it. I discovered later that the ingredients had been changed - instead of the basic list of (I think) eight ingredients there were now over twenty, and it had lost its 'hypoallergenic' status. What was the point of all that, and where was the firm's customer research??

Re: Pears soap
I didn't know it was made in India:

That's a lot of soap miles.

Re: Pears soap
How disspointing! I wonder how many people will notice the change as you did Dandelion.
As to the air miles, does anyone know of a way to find out where manufactured goods originate from? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, it just occurred to me that the bulk of the population may not be aware of the actual origins of their purchases and I bet manfacturers are careful about how they place such info on their labelling).

Re: Pears soap
To be fair, apparently the new process now avoids burning a lot of alcohol off into the air, so that's a good thing, but I hate having to find an alternative when I've used the soap for so long. (I know change is supposed to keep you young...) Anyone know of any good glycerine soaps which are made in the UK? I've bought some Body Shop soap, but will have to go through trial and error to find one which doesn't cause a reaction.

Re: Pears soap
Hi Dandelion
Have you thought of trying to make your own soap?
It's fun and you know exactly what's gone in it. I've not made any for a while, really need to get back in to it, but I've had some fantastic results.
I've got lots of soap making info if you are interested

Re: Pears soap
She makes good soap, too!
Also you can buy melt and pour soap, if you don't want to go the whole hog from scratch.
Bouhgt soap...Suma or Faith in nature are soap, with glycerine and nice and pure...If you try Ledbury Wholefoods Caroline seels them...( or her new branch, if ope, further down the Homend......)

Re: Pears soap
Are you running a temperature? It could just be a coincidence (a virus coming on) or could it be linked to your foot injury?
