Hello, I'm Mrs C Empty Hello, I'm Mrs C

Hello everyone - thought it about time that I provided a little more on me and who I am.

I live in St Albans, Hertfordshire with my husband, conveniently named Mr C, where we have been based for about five and a half years now. We finally moved out of our little first floor flat into our first house about eight months ago and I'm currently just over six months pregnant with our first child.

After doing a degree in Electronic Engineering with Computer Science (one of very few girls on my course!) I've worked in a variety of consultancy and technical project management roles since graduating. The last of these really started to grate for a variety of reasons and I finally resigned from it last autumn, two weeks before finding out I was pregnant. Hence I've been out of work since Christmas, but busy preparing for Baby C and finally trying many of the things on my to do list. Mr C is a software engineer and commutes into London everyday by train.

Up until about 4 years ago I wouldn't have called us very environmentally conscious at all, but then I watched the first series of INEBG and had some sort of mini-green epiphany. Moving to the house has allowed us to finally try many of the things that we've been wanting to do for a while and growing our own is the start of that. It has also massively increased our awareness of the natural world around us and we both are now on the management committee of a local city centre nature reserve here in St Albans and spend what little free time we have helping out there, or visiting other nature reserves. We've also set up UK Nature Blog to keep up with what we're learning and what we spot whilst out and about. There are plans for a wildlife pond for the back garden, although time is going into decorating the nursery rather than digging it at the moment!

When at home I also love all fabric based crafts. Knitting and cross-stitch are particular favourites at the moment, although I have also tried my hand at crochet, embroidery and making things on my sewing machine. Books are another passion, along with baking and food and drink in general.

As I'm a forgetful sort I try to keep track of all of the nice things that I'm up to over on my personal blog: Being Mrs C
