This is where anybody can put on TV & Radio programmes that they think other people may find interesting, & there were some goodies last week...

Just put day, time, channel, if you want you could put a brief bit about what the programe is about & whether it is a series or a one off, Mrs C has also suggested putting a link if possible if it's something that's then available online (e.g. through iPlayer or 4OD).

For the moment can we try to keep it forum related stuff, which I know covers a multitude of sins...

Please note the change in title, wireless programmes can be included too...
(Thanks Wood Troll...)

(I know its a little early but have to do my "housekeeping" this evening as working a 12 hourish shift tomorrow Whats Being Beamed At You This Week... 02 May - 08 May 2010... Icon_evil )...

Ah & don't forget the probable blanket coverage on Thursday/Friday of the U.K. General Election.

Now this may be a close run thing so please go out & vote, it might seem like an effort but think of the efforts people throughout history went too to enable us to put our X in the box,

& also those people who would still like the opportunity to have a box to put an X in...

One programme which attracted my attention is 'How to live a simple life', BBC2 Friday at 9pm. Peter Owen Jones hands over his credit cards and cheque book for three months, and grows his own vegetables, keeps chickens, forages and barters to keep himself supplied with the basics. He quotes St Francis who said that giving up money makes you vulnerable, forces you to swallow your pride and take lessons in humility. (It sounds as if the TV critic in the Times doesn't feel as if this aspect of the programme works!)

Thanks for that, perhaps that quote from St Francis is where Apsley Cherry-Garrard found the inspiration for the quote that I have shamelessly ripped off from his book for my signature... Very Happy

We are not allowed to see the BBC iplayer TV programmes but we can download from UKNova (thanks for reference Badger). We are allowed radio though...Gardeners Question Time is still worth listening to. Its not dumbed down and they do very interesting "extra" story bits.

Watched this one tonight, IMO was an interesting worthwhile hour, Flute even put her book down for about half of it... Whats Being Beamed At You This Week... 02 May - 08 May 2010... Icon_lol

Recorded it, and got round to watching it last night. Extremely watchable - beautiful scenery, but hopefully the principles he is trying to live by should be just as applicable in the inner city. We've had a bit of debate in the family since it's been on, and decided that the programme is good to get you thinking about changing your lifestyle, but that there are too many discrepancies for the lifestyle depicted on the TV to work. (The diocese is presumably paying for the electricity and water for his house for one thing....)
