Re: Painting/Drawing
Wow! Beautiful! I really love your pieces. I wish I was half as talented at 'proper' painting as you are.
(I call it proper because it comes purely from your imagination, not lots of other people's stuff put together which is what I do)

Re: Painting/Drawing
That's the thing though - funnily enough, I don't think I'm doing "proper" art at all; I wish I could do hyper-realism but I fail dramatically at it. As a matter of fact some of the stuff I see done on Deviant Art which puts together photo-manip collages is absolutely amazing. You still are coming up with what looks good, what would compliment or counteract something else, so that still makes you creative. I think women in general are just more critical about their artistic abilities for some reason, I know that was true of me at least.

Re: Painting/Drawing
Well managed to get my paints out today, first time for months.
Spent an hour learning how to do things but then had a go at the dragon.
Must say it is easier to paint one that draw one. Managed to start one & it is not too bad, still not what I want, but looks like one at the moment. I just have to work out legs & wings & then practise like crazy.

Re: Painting/Drawing
Yesterday I managed to draw a nice dragon. Not perfect by any means, but it looks like what it is. I was soooo pleased

Re: Painting/Drawing
Pol, rich who used (still does?) post on the INEBG/GILF forum was a dragon-drawing person - I saw quite a few of his pieces and they were quite stunning. He is a very amenable fellow and i am sure would be more than happy to give you tips aplenty.

Was that his user name Billy?
I will answer my own question, yes it is & yes I know who you mean. He is in there sometimes. Thanks Billy

Pol, I have his phone number and could give him a call to ask him about you making contact, if you can't do it directly via pm?

Thanks CW will think about it, but I can PM as he is still active, just a bit quieter than he used to be.

Re: Painting/Drawing
While away on holiday last month, I took a sketch pad, pencils & crayons. For the first time since I was a child I drew & coloured a picture during some quiet moments. I was thrilled that I had. I would not say it is good, but my goodness I did enjoy doing it & it does look almost how I wanted it to.

Re: Painting/Drawing
After a long time, I got me paints out. I was lucky enough a few weeks ago to be given a Paint a Calender Box. It is a box with about 100 picture sketches in, with a colour one to copy, & I have spent a pleasant afternoon making a start. When I say sketches, that is exactly what they are, so lots of chances to embelish as well.

Re: Painting/Drawing
I was out walking the dog today, and came upon a load of fallen Acer leaves - wonderful, wonderful colours. Some bright yellow, with a last vestige of green, others, red with yellow centres, and more yellow with red centres, and some deep crimson. I brought a few home, and photographed them initially, as I am not sure if the colours will stay overnight. They are currently in a bag in the fridge, and tomorrow I am hoping to get out the colours and drawing pad. I will probably use coloured pencils, or aquarelle pencils. Generally I prefer to work from the real object, but if they have gone all sad overnight, then I will at least have the photographs to work from.

Re: Painting/Drawing
I know when I was drawing/sketching, I found it a lot easier to draw from a photograph. Maybe my brain only works translating 2D to 3D, and not the other way round.

Re: Painting/Drawing
Finished another calender card today.
Newest favourite shop at the moment is "The Works" bought a colouring book called Doodle Designs Christmas Memories. Grown up piccys to colour, 48 of them, so I made a start today. How peaceful can you get?

Re: Painting/Drawing
Any chance of getting young flute to take some photos to show off your work?
I have been trying to work out how raise $300 to buy a neat bit of equipment that will make my card making cost effective enough to sell them...
Anyone need a kidney?

Re: Painting/Drawing
Well, this might end up with the 2 calender piccys, then again it might not!! The small piccy is the one to copy & the bigger one is the one I painted.

Re: Painting/Drawing
Managed to do some painting in my grown up books. I just wish I was better at it than I am, but at least I don`t have my Mum leaning over & telling me to be more careful or wash the paint box when I have finished. Bless her she always used to do it & it drove me mad.

Managed to get Quick & Clever Watercolours yesterday in The Works. So started to spend the voucher I was given on Sunday. Good book & a great help as well.
