Dear friends

Well I've had a great time over the last few weeks. I managed to get
myself an all expenses paid holiday to the South African World Cup. So I
took the opportunity to chill out, relax and just watch some guys play
football...

Best of all though, at the end of it they even gave me a medal.

F. Torres.

I thinks a joke section is a good idea. But it will need to have a warning message, in case some readers are offended by some jokes.
This happened on another forum when someone posted a joke in the general section(which even had a reference to Monty Python in the section info) . One member of the forum complained about the joke(i made sure I took a copy) and there were a lot of messages posted saying they found the joke OK, but the original poster then deleted the joke(making the thread look very odd) and a moderator blocked the thread saying that if anyone tried to reopen the discussion the messages would be removed.
This wasa on a specialised forum which prided itself on being open minded, and as a result had members all across world with a lot of help and useful stuff. Since then everyone is worried about posting general comments in case someone is offended.
Freedom of speech is very important, and restricting it ultimatefully destroys online discussion such as forums.
So, yes a joke section is a good idea, but every member and anyone reading the forum, has to realise that if they are easily offended, then they should shut their eyes.
It might mean more work for moderators but if this ends up with a more successful online forum, then it is worth it. There are too many forums which simply do not get noticed and ultimately die.

Spot on, something that I hope is noticed is the relaxed moderation here.

I'm very happy for fun and joking, jokes from Sickipedia are not appropriate (sometimes funny, but not suitable here)...

I mostly trust members to police themselves, to think twice and reread stuff like jokes before posting.
