You see I think I'm the opposite Badger in that it's the idea of having to understand the mechanics of it all that appeals to me (being an engineer and all). Then again that doesn't mean I'd be any good at it.

Would definitely like to have a go at some point. I just need to work out how and when (certainly I don't think it would be easy to sit at a loom with bump in the way!)

Where did you down load it from Badger? We can't get BBC on iplayer here in France and we don't have any television, just the computer.

I have always looked longingly at the big looms and would love to weave. The rhythm seems to be a compelling thing!

Holly's shawl is definately worth a covert too!

Thanks Badger we downloaded the programme yesterday (some of the stream came from eastern Canada - might have helped your "score" on UKNova!)

It was interesting what Monty said about in "modern life" people are not used to working hard. I do feel that seems to be the norm...worst still always expecting something for nothing.

Holly working 17hrs a day to ensure her double sided weaving was complete in time was heroic! And hopefully getting easier. I would buy a shawl like that. It was lovely but I can understand the master weaver’s point that as a weaver Trev was exceptional. I really hope he is keeping going as he obviously could be one of the best weavers in the country!

It is interesting though that sort of 10pounds an hour is what seems to be all you can expect in these crafts...but if you are working at home, no working away costs, doing something you love perhaps that is enough?
