Those of you interested in the transition from Roman to Post-Roman Britian have some good books recently published to read: Britiain After Rome, by Robin Fleming; UnRoman Britian, by Miles and Laycock; Brittania, the failed State, by Laycock. I have been reading these recently. When I was a kid I was fed the rubbish that the Britons all disappeared or were driven to Wales by Saxon invaders, so that the English are basically Germanic. I intuitively felt that this was untrue, so I have been fascinated by the transition from Roman to Anglo-Saxon Britain. I know now that recent thinking has vindicated those of us who felt that the Britons had survived to be the ancestors of the modern English.

There are trigger experiences, moments when we experience something or some place that sparks off a past life memory and our minds return to the period of a previous incarnation, particularly our death in a previous one. I did not believe in these experiences, though I had heard of them, until I visited the scene of an infamous battle and had distinctly bad feelings and a developing conviction that I had been there. Enough said! What you said, Aberlemno, struck a chord with me. Why am I drawn so strongly to Scotland when I have far more English and Irish ancestors than Scottish?
