Squirrels for dinner
Managed to trap 4 grey squirrels in the back yard and was going to wait till I had 8 before cooking them.
Well, patience not being my strong suit, I went ahead and cooked them.
Those 4 squirrels fed three kids and two adults with a bit left over for mum the next day
Simmered till tender, rolled in seasoned flour, dipped in cream, rolled in flour again and fried in a skillet in deep fat till crisp. Then pour off the fat and make pan gravy with the drippings. Serve with mashed spuds and veggies.
Ooooooooo YUMMY!!!!
And the stock for risotto next day as a bonus
Will be trapping again as soon as the season lets me but had to share how few it takes for a good feed. Esp. for those of you who have greys in season all year round.
