Just wondering if I am the only one? Although I have been warmly welcomed, it would be nice to know someone else from the land of Oz is traipsing about in here with me Smile

I would dearly love to have more Aussies (more Yanks and Canucks as well for that matter) on the forum, its always fascinating to hear how you guys live compared to us in the Great White and our cousins in the UK.and neighbours to the south.

Feel free to invite your mates BJM Very Happy

Wouldn't we have to add a forum section in French for that?

Badger has been using the term as if it meant "Canadian" but it doesn't. More specific than that. Means backcountry Francophone Canadian. Only a bilingual Canuck could possibly join this forum. Of course if we added a French section could perhaps attract more folks from across the Channel too.

The Random House Dictionary notes that:

"The term Canuck is first recorded about 1835 as an Americanism, originally referring specifically to a French Canadian. This was probably the original meaning, though in Canada and other countries, "Canuck" refers to a Canadian."

Canadians use "Canuck" as an affectionate or merely descriptive term for their nationality. Other nationalities may use the word as an affectionate, or derogatory, or merely a descriptive term.

Oh, joke away BJM, though I am actually an English Canadian, being an immigrant from the Auld Country...

My sister recently did a couple of weeks over there, east coast mostly I believe, and told me some jokes. I also have a couple of Aunties and cousins who are originally from Scotland who now live there, would love to come over sometime myself Smile
