JellyB's Bees
Well, it would appear that I have ordered my beehive, which should arrive in a couple of weeks with bees shortly after that :affraid:
Got the beehive and bits and bobs from Fragile Planet and have arranged bees from them as well. I had a pleasant conversation with a very helpful chappie.
Have also had a chat with the bee inspector (who helped run the course I did) and he seemed to think I have a reasonable spot for the bees in my garden, I just need to do a bit of space clearing so.....watch this space

Re: JellyB's Bees
I went for the full kit! But as I already have a suit I negotiated a deal whereby I got a hive stand, and an extra super with frames & foundation instead and also saved a couple of ££ .

Re: JellyB's Bees
Ang,
Correct me if I am wrong, but the entrance to the hive appears to facing away from a fence, hence is probably quite close to a path. If so you will be walking directly across the flight path of the bees. They could become agressive at this. Perhaps the entrance could face to the left or right?
If not I'll shut up and go and sit back under my bridge!

Re: JellyB's Bees
Hi WT, all advice gratefully accepted, thank you.
The way the entrance faces is the best way for me. It's hard to explain as obviously you don't know my garden but the way it is means I approach it from one side and I've got room to get round the back as well. Also if it was facing the other side then that would face towards the nearest neighbour's garden. It all makes sense to me, but things may change if it's not working that way round.

Is there a slidey-out bit? There doesn't seem to be a landing ramp or much of an access gap?
