Re: JellyB's Bees
okey dokey, first solo bee inspection done today. Things seem ok, found the Queen nice and easily and she is enormous, bigger than the ones I've seen at Bee Night! Don't know if that's particularly good or not but there was plenty of brood, spotted some larvae and quite a bit of honey. There were a few dead bods on the ground but I guess that's to be expected. Sugar syrup all made up and in the feeder. Just got to let them get on with it now and try and be patient and not go poking around too much.
All the buddleia is just coming out in the garden so they should have plenty to feed on

Re: JellyB's Bees
So far so good. They've started drawing out some of the unused brood foundation and I've put the super on top now so hopefully they can build up some stores for the winter as well as having the feeder on top.
Quite a few dead bees under the hive but I think they are just old worn out ones as there's no sign of wasp attack and they all seem fine and healthy inside the hive. Lots of new brood too.
Lottie their names are.....Bee1,2,3,4, etc

Re: JellyB's Bees
I don't believe those pics are real. The bees are in bright sunlight and you live in Manchester.
Or did you hire Krieg lights?
