Cleaning A Dishwasher...
Does anybody use citric acid to clean their dishwasher, if so how much do you use please.
The washing machine doctor said that he used it to clean his appliances out every now & again, but I didn't ask him how much to use...

Re: Cleaning A Dishwasher...
I use white vinegar on a 60 C wash ( with towels) now and then to wash out the washing machine, but tbh, we use Ecover dishwasher tabs in our dishwasher and have never needed to run it to "clean " it out.......but then, we have a water softener for the appliance water circuit and so they don't scale up much..
I assume that is what you were wanting to use the citric acid for? De scaling? IF it is, the vinegar will work just as well..( acetic acid, similar pH)
if it is for anti bacterial purposes, then a very hot wash with vinegar will work , as well...

Thanks, I just want to give it a blast through with something to degunk anything that might be lurking in the tubes...

Re: Cleaning A Dishwasher...
How much vinegar and do you just pour it into the bottom of the machine and start after the rinse cycle?

In the washing machine? I add about half a cup (or if its smelley, more) into the drawer and run it on a hot wash (60) with some big towels or sheets...so I don't waste the wash!
But no powder, as part of the purpose is to clean out the residue lurking aroiund.

Re: Cleaning A Dishwasher...
I shall try vinegar in my machine.
I did a 90 degree cycle with soda crystals the otehr day - and actually ran it empty as I wantedthe machine to get the full benefit. I hd found some very strange pipe shpaed stuff lurking in my drain which I think was dislodghed by the 60 degree towel wash I had done the previous day. We've been doing a lot of 30 degree washing lately and I think we need to do a few more hot washes!
Does anyone use vinegar in the dishwasher?

We have today thrown a cup full in on a standard empty wash, the only way we will be able to see any results is after the wash later, will let you know...
