Emergency blackberry stain!
Have dripped blackberry juice on linen table cloth. Anyone have any tips on how to get it out? So far have just soaked in cold water, which didn't make any difference at all. Will keep wet til something works...
Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
I usually resort to the Vanish bar - there is also an Ecover stain remover. The other thing I have read about blackberry stains is that after washing (using the stain remover) hanging the item in sunlight completes the process, and will fade the stain further if it's till there. Haven't ever tried it.....

I would have thought it would be like a red wine stain, which, if fresh ish can be got rid of by white vinegar or wine...

Have you tried this? I have not heard that one before?

Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
Yep. stretch the material taut and drip boiling water through (assuming it's not wool) - much of it will come out. Then rub in lemon juice and repeat. Leave it for a while and rub in whitening toothpaste (not the gel stuff) to remove any left over discolouration and rinse out...
Men just know about this kind of thing. Little household tips that get passed down from father to son. Women just don't think to ask most of the time.

Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
wow, thanks guys! Think the men in my family must be a different breed to yours Billy!
However, I've only gone and just put my last lemon in the oven with the gammon
And don't have any whitening toothpaste (or nearby shops)..
So will try the boiling water thing and will follow up with vinegar - the lightest I've got is cider vinegar. Do you think that will be ok?
Ecover stain remover is on standby too
And will hope for a sunny day tomorrow!

Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
According to the book I was bought for my birthday bicarbonate of soda might work. Mix with a little water into a paste, put on the stain leave for a couple of hours then wash as usual. Sunlight will certainly help bleach it (and for reference works wonders at bleaching things that have been stained by baby poo!)
Hope this helps.

Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
Thanks Mrs C. Just wish that sun would come back out - lots and lots of rain here at the mo. I've tried Billy's boiling water thing - got the worst of it out. And some vinegar has also helped. Still a bit of a stain though, so will try bicarbonate of soda.
Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
Whoosh bang if you don't rinse the vinegar out, first
Hmm the remedies CM has , handed down from generation to generation, tend to be ALOOB

Re: Emergency blackberry stain!
Thanks everyone for your tips
The stain has all but gone now with the bicarbonate of soda doing a great job of clearing up what the boiling water and vinegar didn't do. Even a bit of sun today to give it a last little bleach out, so that one mark has now totally gone and the other is just the faintest of blues and may well fade totally if I stick it back outside next time we get a bit of sun. Great stuff!
