Tapestry Crochet by Carol Norton
I am looking for a second hand copy of this book. It is out of print and resellers on Amazon have taken advantage of that and have ramped up their asking price - fair enough, but I cannot afford to pay those prices.
So, just a general vague fleeting hope, that if anyone comes across a copy of this in a second hand shop or elsewhere and it is a reasonable price, could you let me know.

Re: Tapestry Crochet by Carol Norton
That is about the same dollar price that Amazon.ca is offering it at, I think all the online sellers have priced high because its a rare book now
I was thinking a lot less - well I can only afford a lot less, tis a luxery item you see

I have put on my ebay search, so will be informed if it turns up. Put a request in the library request thread as well.

ah yeah, that's a good idea Pol - libraries - can you do a request at your library Badger? I know in the UK you can get hold of pretty much any book by doing a search through your local library. And then you can renew it a few times to give you time to get the info you need.. or take many notes! No idea what libraries are like in Canada though..
Re: Tapestry Crochet by Carol Norton
Checked with the local Library today, no luck
Not in the Province at all and it will cost to get it as an interprovince transfer..

I know it's the wrong time of year, and it might be a pretty random point, but have you tried local schools? They often have old books that they clear out of their libraries, mainly at the end of the year, but often for free or maybe a couple of pounds. You should see some of the random books in my old school library!
Just a thought...

Ah
Now I have good news - I have a copy.
I was chatting to a friend on Facebook, a lovely woman who is a wool guru and asked if she had ever come across the book. Oh yes she said, you can get it on Amazon...
While we were chatting and I was explaining that I was reluctant to spend the high price that the resellers are asking (well cannot afford actually), the sly monkey went online and bought it for me.
I am blown away, we have never met, in fact are really only forum friends and recently facebook friends and she has made me this amazing generous gift, I still feel a little teary when I think about it.
So thank you all for your help - I will soon be learning the crochet in the South American pueblo style...
And another special thank you to my benefactress - you know who you are

I'm so glad you found a copy! My other books are still in print and actually less expensive. They all stand alone, but "More Tapestry Crochet" also discusses design and has a substantial "how to" section like the first "Tapestry Crochet" book. My "Bead & Felted" book is mostly projects. They are available from Amazon and my web page, which also has some free video tutorials and project links. I'm Carol Ventura now. Thanks! http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/

Its an amazing book Carol, I am still reading and have not started practising technique, but I am blown away by the possibilities for design and colour work.
Welcome to the forum BTW I am honoured that you accepted my offer to join us.

Tapestry crochet
My web page has lots of info to keep you busy until then. I hope you will also consider joining my Tapestry Crochet Yahoo and Ravelry groups
Re: Tapestry Crochet by Carol Norton
I went and had a look at your web site this morning and am so impressed with your work.
I love the designs you use and the different cultural techniques and influences you write about and research.
We spent some time in New Mexico some years back and I loved the techniques and patterns we saw used there in so many different crafts.
Off to investigate the Yahoo group, already on Ravelry but hadn't found your bit so will investigate that as well...thanks for the link

Thank you original poster and then Carol for the links - I knew I had developed a recent obsession with crochet for a reason, being able to combine tapestry work that I love in the medium that keeps my hands most busy is wonderful. Your website looks great - I am eyeing up the kitty bags as gift ideas for Xmas already.
